VINEYARD
In our Estate’s vineyard in Naoussa, two olive trees (dyo elies in Greek) organically mark the boundary between two blocks where Syrah and Merlot thrive. These blocks are the source of this exceptional red wine, which masterfully reflects our legacy in crafting fine blends.

Syrah flourishes in the southeast-facing Block #19 at an altitude of 235–240 metres, characterized by its steep slope (>16%) and loam to clay-loam soils. This terroir produces rich and expressive varietal characteristics. In contrast, Merlot finds ideal growing conditions in the northeast-facing Block #32, located on gentler, lower grounds up to 180 metres above sea level. The block's loamy limestone soils contribute to the elegance of the fruit. Both varieties were planted in 2002, with a density of 3,970 plants per hectare for Syrah and 3,400 plants per hectare for Merlot.

WINEMAKING
Each variety was harvested and vinified separately, with rigorous sorting on conveyor belts.

  • Merlot: Fermented exclusively in stainless steel tanks. Pre-fermentation maceration lasted 5–7 days, followed by fermentation at 23–26°C and a 4-day post-fermentation extraction.
  • Syrah: Following pre-fermentation maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels (225 L, 20% new oak) for malolactic fermentation and 14 months of maturation.

The first blend was created six months after harvest, with part of the wine aged further in barrels and part in stainless steel tanks. The final blend was completed before bottling.

TASTING NOTES
A deep ruby red hue introduces this complex and layered wine. On the nose, it reveals enticing aromas of pepper, caramel, and chocolate, complemented by smoky notes and a core of ripe red fruits. The palate mirrors the complexity of the nose, offering a full-bodied and structured mouthfeel, invigorated by a refreshing crispness. The finish is long, spicy, and memorable.
