VINEYARD
A meticulous selection of Xinomavro vines, at least 40 years old, cultivated on small parcels scattered around Agios Panteleimonas, within the PDO zone of Amyndeon in Northern Greece. The region has a continental-like climate and is one of the cooler wine-producing areas in Greece. Situated on a stunning plateau at 600 metres above sea level, the area features poor sandy soils, neighbouring lakes, and mountainous surroundings—an ideal terroir for Xinomavro to ripen fully and showcase its distinctive backbone.
2023: THE VINTAGE IN BRIEF
The year began with an unusually warm and dry winter, followed by rain and cooler-than-average temperatures throughout the spring and into June. These conditions required vigilant vineyard management and, in some cases, an acceleration of practices such as shoot thinning to improve aeration and sun exposure for the vines. From mid-summer onward, conditions normalized, allowing the Xinomavro to ripen completely. The hand-picked harvest began in mid-October 2023.
WINEMAKING
The process begins with rigorous grape selection on a conveyor belt, followed by direct pressing. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 17–19°C, with periodic, gentle stirring of the fine lees (batonnage) for four months.
TASTING NOTES
Pale salmon-pink in colour, this rosé opens with floral aromas, gradually revealing layers of apricot, white-fleshed peach, tangy strawberry, and subtle herbal undertones. The same refined complexity is reflected on the palate, which balances lusciousness with crisp acidity and a delicate touch of tannins. The finish is harmonious and satisfying.
